NCHS’ Panther Fieldhouse – Fort Worth, TX
The North Crowley Men’s Basketball Program finished what they started last Tuesday night with a 64-40 home win over the Arl. Lamar Vikings on “Senior Night”. The night, as a whole, was full of festivities as the SCMS Mustangs & the CMS Panthers 7th Grade A-Teams were honored for that fabulous seasons. The SCMS & CMS 8th Grade A-Teams competed at Panther Fieldhouse in front of a near capacity crowd. And oh yeah… the North Crowley Junior Varsity finished what was an outstanding season with a convincing win over Arl. Lamar’s JV.
The Panthers jumped on the Vikings early in the first quarter making Lamar burn 2 first quarter timeouts in an attempt to stymie North Crowley runs. The Panthers still jumped out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the first frame. The second quarter was more of the same… Panther half court defense and transition offense. A big steal and dunk by Junior Guard, Jacari Chambers and a monster dunk by Sr. Forward, Jay Gates kept the gym rocking and the Panthers rolling as they poured in 17 more points in the quarter to take a 34-18 lead into the locker room at the half. The Panthers continued to pour it on in the third quarter… this time it was 2 big steals and rim rocking dunks by Sr. Guard, Isaiah Crawford that brought the crowd to their feet and the NC Cheerleaders tumbling. The Panthers won the third quarter, 16-7 to double-up the Vikings after three, 50-25. The Panthers spent most of the 4th quarter show casing their returning talent in Junior Guard, Tre Ballard who finished the game with 11 points and 3 rebounds, Sophomore PG, Malik Clinton who was all over the court defensively & Freshman big man, Bryan Thomas who had 4 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in the 4th quarter alone. Late in the game, many of the Panther Seniors received a “curtain call” as Coach Brakel honored Seniors Traveon Bogan, Brenden Ford, Isaiah Jenkins, Evan Williams, Michael Coleman, Jay Gates, Isaiah Wyatt, Chris Jordan & Isaiah Crawford as the Panthers finished a magnificent career at North Crowley High School’s Panther Fieldhouse and closed their final regular season chapter with a 64-40 home win. The win finished the Panthers regular season record at 32-3 overall and their District 4-6A record a perfect 16-0.
With the win, the Panthers moved into the UIL’s 6A Playoffs with a 13 game win streak with the last 12 all being double figure wins. The Panthers are scheduled to play San Angelo Central in the 6A Region 1 Bi-District Round of the playoffs on Monday, February 18th at Eastland High School with a 7:00 scheduled tip.
