Panthers News · Men’s Basketball Stays Perfect in 4-6A Play (8-0)

NCHS’ Panther Fieldhouse – Fort Worth, TX

The North Crowley Panther Men’s Basketball Program continued with their winning ways last week as they stayed perfect in District 4-6A play with a home win over FW Trimble Tech and a road win over Arlington Lamar.  The 2 wins brought the Panthers’ overall record to 24-3 on the season and their district record to 8-0 at the half way point of district play.  The 24 wins, marks the most wins in the state by a 6A program at this point in the season.  The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches currently have North Crowley ranked 7th in the State in 6A.

The Panthers opened the week with a convincing home win over the Trimble Tech Bulldogs on Tuesday by a score of 75-39.  Panther leaders included Junior Wing/Guard, Tre Ballard in scoring with 16 for the game.  Freshman Forward/Post Bryan Thomas led the team in rebounding with 9 (5 offensive) for the game.  Senior PG, Michael Coleman led North Crowley in assists with 9 assists and only 1 turnover.  Thomas & Senior Wing/Guard Isaiah Crawford led the team in blocked shots with 2 apiece.  Other double-digit scorers for the Panthers included, Crawford with 12 along with seniors Chris Jordan & Isaiah Wyatt with 11 each.

In the Panthers Friday game, they traveled to Arlington to take on the Lamar Vikings.  The Vikings were one of the programs in 4-6A that were supposed to challenge for one of the 4 UIL allotted playoff spots for the 2018-19 season, but had been on a bit of a slide entering the game.  NC made sure early in the game that the “slide” was going to continue for at least one more night.  The Panthers jumped on the Vikings early with a 19-4 1st quarter lead and a 35-12 lead at the half.  The Panthers again played a lot of players in the second half of the contest as they coasted to a 63-43 road win.

The Panthers will play 2 very important games this coming week as they travel to Arlington High to face a hot Colts team who is tied for third place in the district.  They return home on Friday to face district rival Arlington Bowie.  Bowie is currently tied with Arlington High for third place in the 4-6A standings.
