Panthers News · NC Men’s Basketball – Post Season Honors

NCHS’ Panther Fieldhouse – Fort Worth, TX

The North Crowley Men’s Basketball Team “bowed out” of the 6A State Playoffs on March, 2nd with a hard fought 67-73 loss to the Allen Eagles (the eventual 6A State Champions).  The Panthers finished an outstanding 2017-18 campaign that saw them have an overall team record of 31-6, a District 4-6A record of 13-1 (District Champs) and battle 4 rounds deep in the State playoffs including a 6A Region 1 Regional Tournament birth.

With team success, comes individual accolades and this year was no different.  The North Crowley Men’s Basketball program would like to congratulate the following members of the program for their 2017-18 accolades.

First and foremost, the Panthers would like to recognize the accolades of our 2017-18 STUDENT Athletes.  District 4-6A All-Academic Team Members (any classification) are required to be letter winners & possess a 90 or better academic average in each of the 6 weeks in which their sport takes place.  NC Seniors Tayron Moffet & Jordan Grant along with Junior Grant Sherfield all qualified for District 4-6A Academic Honors.  The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches also recognizes student athletes as Academic All-State by meeting the following criteria.  Each Academic All-State Member must be a Senior, a letter winner & possess 92 or better 7 semester average.  Seniors Tayron Moffett, Jordan Grant & Chase Yancy all have qualified to be recognized by TABC as Academic All-State.  The 3 Seniors selected become the 16th, 17th & 18th Panthers honored with this prestigious award in the last 20 years & the first trio of teammates to be honored in the same year since the 2003-2004 season.  The Panthers would also like to recognize their 2 fabulous student athletic trainers, Maya Aqqad & Grace Paschal, who not only were a huge part of the program’s success, but also smashed any/all requirements for Academic Honors at the District or State levels.

Junior Combo Guard, Grant Sherfield led the way in athletic honors by being named the District 4-6A Co-MVP, the Offensive Player of the Year & 1st Team All-District.  He was also named to the 6A Region 1’s 1st Team All-Region Team and to the 6A All-State Team.  He was the 12th Panther chosen for All-State recognition.

Junior Wing, Isaiah Crawford & Sr. Forward Craig Jordan were both selected to the District 4-6A 1st Team.

Senior Point Guard, Tayron Moffett was selected to the District 4-6A 2nd Team.

Senior Abil Hayes along with Juniors Isaiah Wyatt, Chris Jordan and Jay Gates all received District 4-6A Honorable Mention recognition.

A special congratulations to all of these very worthy recipients as well as to all members of the 2017-18 North Crowley Men’s Basketball Program for another great season in the books & banner on the wall!
