The North Crowley Men’s Basketball Team won 2 more big District 4-6A games last week setting up a showdown against Arlington Bowie for the top spot in the district standings.  The Panthers had to take care of two teams fighting for their post-season lives last week though to set the stage for the Arl. Bowie game.

On Tuesday, the Panthers played host to the Arlington High Colts.  The Panthers, struggled a bit early in the contest, but finished strong as they coasted to a 68-48 victory.  The Panthers were led in scoring by Jr. sensation, Grant Sherfield’s 33 point performance.  Sherfield also pulled down 5 rebounds which tied Sr. Forward Craig Jordan for top rebounding performances.  Sr. Wing, Abil Hayes led the Panthers in Assists with 4 & Sr. Point Guard, Tayron Moffett led the team in steals with 4.  Jr. Wing, Isaiah Wyatt joined Sherfield in double figure scoring with 11 points.  The Panthers home win brought their overall record to 22-5 and their district record to 7-1.  The win also marked the 198th win (to only 13 losses) at North Crowley’s Panther Fieldhouse!

Friday night saw the Panthers of North Crowley traveling to Arlington to face a tough and somewhat hot Viking team from Lamar High School.  The Panthers were in for a dog fight from the very beginning.  The Panthers led the Vikings 17-15 after 1, 31-29 at the half and held a 46-45 lead heading into the 4th and final quarter.  Again Jr. Guard and UCLA Commit Grant Sherfield took over for the Panthers scoring 11 of his game high 23 points in the 4th period.  Sherfield also led the Panthers in assists with 7 (and 0 turnovers).  Craig Jordan led NC in rebounds with 9 for the game.  Jr. Forward Isaiah Crawford was 8 of 9 from the field scoring 17 for the game & Wyatt, for the second straight game found double figures by scoring 10.

The 2 wins last week moved the 23rd ranked Panthers to 23-5 on the season & 8-1 in District 4-6A play.  The Panthers are tied atop the standings with the Arl. Bowie Volunteers.  The 2 teams face off against each other on Tuesday night at Panther Fieldhouse…  The girls tip off at 6:00PM and the boys game will tip approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the girls’ game.
