Multiple Teams · Panther Tennis Falls to .500 in District

The NCHS Panthers began the gauntlet part of their district season Tuesday as they hosted the Panthers of Paschal HS. This would be the first of 3 straight matches versus top 3 district opponents. The young NC Panthers struggled from the first serve as the boys doubles went 1-2 with Superchamp Junior Jonny Vega and Senior doubles partner Kaleb Collins claiming the only boys doubles win. On the girls side, the NC Lady Panthers had no answer for the dominant doubles teams of Paschal going 0-3 in the girls doubles. In the mixed doubles fellow seniors and newcomers Sloan King and Gillian Harrison grinded out points and were able to pull out a few games before falling to the Paschal mixed team. The NC Panthers found themselves down 1-6 going into the singles. The NC Panthers looked to turn things around but had the same result. Superchamp Junior Jonny Vega pulled out the only victory winning in two straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. The NC Panthers lost the match 2-17 and fell to .500 in district at 2-2 and 7-6 overall. The Panthers have another tough match next week as they visit the Martin Warriors who are currently tied for 2nd in the district. Good luck next week and Go Panther Nation.
