Multiple Teams · Panther Tennis Opens District with a Win

The North Crowley Tennis team opened District play against Arlington HS Friday. The Panthers were looking to avenge a crucial loss last year to the Colts that kept the Panthers out of the district playoff. The boys doubles team proved dominant once again by going 3-0 in the boys doubles. The girls doubles struggled but the #2 girls doubles were able to squeeze out a win. The mixed team put up a fight but came up short. The Panthers were up 4-3 going into the singles matches. The boys singles made a clean sweep going 6-0 being led once again by Superchamp Junior Jonny Vega, seniors Joe Darden and Kaleb Collins and junior Gio Rodriguez and sophmores Logan Smith and Colt Nickle. The girls found themselves in a struggle but Junior Maame Effirim and Jayla McGill were able to grind out a win giving the Panthers  a 12-7 win. The Panthers now focus their attention to next Tuesday when they will host the Arlington Lamar Vikings at home.
