Game Recap

The HS football season is officially underway as the N. Crowley Panthers opened the season at home against the The Colony High! It feels so good to be back on the green and competing with all the great teams across the state of Tx. On Friday night the N. Crowley Panthers came out swinging against The Colony as the offense took the ball 1st and went down the field immediately putting points on the board. Jr. QB-Caleb Leake connected with Sr. WR-Julian Jones on a 38yd TD pass kicking off the 2017 campaign. Instantly the defense would take the field and hold The Colony to a 3 and out. On the very next offensive drive, Leake-Jones connection would swing for the fences again and connect on a 33yd TD pass taking a commanding 16-0 lead in the early stages of the 1st quarter. History would repeat itself again as the defense would push back The Colony again giving our offense the ball back as Caleb Leake would jet 45yds for a rushing TD pushing the score to 22-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The defense would continue to strive but a few mistakes enabled The Colony to score twice within the 2nd frame making the game interesting. Subsequently the offense would strike again as Sr. WR-Julian Jones would catch his 3rd & 4th touchdown pass in as many catches pushing our halftime score to 34-14. On the half, Jr. QB-Caleb Leake accounted for 5 TD’s as WR- Julian Jones would take 4 TD’s into the half culminating an electric half of N. Crowley football. Opening the 2nd half, the defense would surrender a TD on the opening drive as we didn’t start fast on defense. However, its a team game and the offense would push the night forward and Jr. QB-Caleb Leake would score his final TD of the night on a 1yd plunge. With a 40-21 lead the defense would pin their ears back and come up with two huge turnovers both accounted for by Jr. DT-Kelton Davis who recover a fumble and catch his 1st interception of his high school career. The night would be capped by an awesome 52yd TD run by Jr. RB-Ryan Fisher that rose the crowd to its feet. The N. Crowley Panthers would go on to finish the contest and take away a 46-27 win.

Offensively, the Panthers would be lead by Jr. QB-Caleb Leake would account for 223yds, 6 TD’s(4 passing & 2 rushing). Sr. WR-Julian Jones would finish the night with 5 catches, 135yds and 4 TD’s. Sr. RB-Jailen Robinson wouldn’t go unnoticed as he ran the bell extremely well as he amassed 13 carries for 96yds. The offensive line would be special all night as Sr. OC-Clayton Mitchell, Sr. OG-Lezra Dews and Jr. OT-Tyler Smith led the chariots up and down the field.

Defensively, the defensive line stood out as they dominated the line of scrimmage throughout the night. Jr. DT-Kelton would lead the way as he had 7 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 fum recovery and 1 INT.
